The Instructors and Staff
Vic has been diving since 1993 when he landed an apprentice job at a dive school in Jersey, UK with a family friend. His first dive was in the English Channel in February! He was still hooked and achieved his instructor licence in 1996. Vic now has hundreds of student certifications under his belt and has been lucky enough to dive and teach in some amazing places around the world since. Apart from Thailand, Vic rates the Connotes caves in Mexico and a hammerhead shark dive in the Maldives as his top locations.
Kim has been diving since 2001 when she gained her Open Water certification in the dive Mecca of Utila, Honduras. She completed her Dive Master in Koh Tao in early 2003 and then her Instructor in Koh Phangan late 2004. Since then Kim has been working full time teaching and guiding, gaining many certifications, and forging great friendships with customers coming back every year to dive. Kim is also leading the Reefers Team in respect of Whale Shark sightings!
Fabio was born in Rimini, Italy and the sea has always been his first love. He has been living in Thailand for many years. Working in the dive industry since 2005, Fabio has been exploring the waters of The Red Sea, Andaman Sea, Mergui Archipelago (Burma), the Gulf of Thailand (Koh Tao and Koh Phangan), Great Barrier Reef (Australia) and the Maldives working in dive centres, dive resort and on liveaboards. Koh Phangan is now his home and he loves to pass on his passion for the ocean to (student) divers.
The Captain (P’Wat)
P' Wat was born in Suratthani, Koh Phangan and has lived on the island all his life. He used to be a fisherman and resort manager so has excellent English and great knowledge of local water and weather conditions. P' Wat also owns a resort called Milla Hill Bungalows with his wife P' Tum (who provides the tasty lunches on our day trips) and their 4 children.
Fran was born in The Netherlands and has spent most of the last 10 years in Thailand. She has been active in the diving industry since 1998 when she gained her Divemaster rating in Exmouth, Australia. After becoming an Instructor on Koh Tao in 2000 she worked for a few years in various dive centres there, until a medical condition put her on land. Still using her knowledge and experience she went on managing a dive centre and moved to Koh Phangan in 2006 to manage another dive centre. After taking a little break she now is back and is organizing everyone's diving needs at Reefers.
Nods is from Guernsey and has known Vic & Kim for many years and has been to Thailand many times. Initially she didn't want to have anything to do with diving but is now totally hooked. Her 2 week stay has been extended to an 8 month stay and Nods will be completing her Dive Master through the summer. They don't call this island 'sticky island' for nothing!
Kerry started diving in Jersey in the mid eighties. He met Vic and Kim through a mutual friend 3 years ago in Koh Phangan. After diving here he knew he was coming back for more. Taking a year off from work to travel around the world he decided to spend 2 months on Koh Phangan to complete his Rescue and Dive Master courses. Highlights of his trip so far include trekking in Patagonia and diving with great white sharks in Australia.
Richie started diving in 2000 whilst travelling through India and Sri Lanka. He got the diving bug and made it up to Rescue Diver. Taking time off from work to travel around the world looking for a new purpose in life he came to Koh Phangan where he met the Kestrel and got talked into staying here (also not to miss out on a Job 2 Do concert) and decided to do his Dive Master course with us as opposed to going to Koh Tao. He hopes to receive his Dive Master rating within the next two months.
